I hear from clients and friends, throughout the year, that they have gained five, ten or fifteen pounds.  Honestly, it doesn’t matter what time of year it is, gaining and losing weight is a part of life for many women, especially those over forty.

No matter what the change in weight is, no matter what your size or height is, the reality is that it can be challenging to feel confident and comfortable in the clothes that are suddenly too tight and don’t fit right.

There are a few easy ways easy ways to hide your muffin top without breaking the bank and/or going out to buy new clothes and I thought I would share them here:

When your jeans, pants or skirt are suddenly too tight and too small and you have a muffin top an easy way to hide your muffin top is to add a layering piece like a blazer, a puffer vest, or a utility, field or cargo jacket. All of these can be casual or professional and/or lightweight depending on the weather. They will all also easily hide your muffin top.

Another easy way to hide your muffin top is to layer your outfit with a cardigan. The cardigan can be long or short but make sure to leave it open so you can still define where your waist is. Our initial reaction is to want to hide our bodies but when we do that we lose definition and actually make ourselves look larger than we are.

One of my favorite easy and inexpensive ways to hide your muffin top is to take a button down top that may be too small and use it as a layering piece. Often times, clients forget about a button down top because the buttons are pulling across the chest but if you open it up and use it as a layering piece it’s an easy way to hide your muffin top.

I hope my top three easy ways to hide your muffin top are helpful and help you look and feel more confident. If you need help shopping, letting go of what’s not working for you, or don’t know where or how to start feel free to reach out.
