If you have big plans for the new year, the quarter or this month do you have the wardrobe to go with it? Did you know that how you show up can help give you the confidence to go after your dreams? If your style, and what you wear every day, doesn’t reflect who and what you want to be it may be time to let go of what’s not working for you so you can say hello to a new stylish you.

When you look in your closet, do you have the right pieces so you can show up authentically, with confidence, and feeling empowered? If not, an important first step in finding your style is to assess your clothes, what your wearing and what you’re not, as well as pay attention to how you feel when you get dressed. How do you feel when you put on certain materials, fabrics, styles, and more. If you don’t like how the items fit or feel it’s time let go of what’s not working for you so you can say hello to a new stylish you.

I work with women, every month, to help them let go of what’s not working and we often come across pieces in their closet from two, five, or ten years ago. Pieces they don’t wear because they “are going to get back into them” or they “might need them for ‘x’ event.” Can you relate? Do you have pieces that don’t fit from long ago that you don’t wear but are waiting and trying to get back into them? If you make the time to replace them with pieces that you feel authentic in, you’re more likely to go after your goals and have confidence. So let go of what’s not working for you and say hello to a new stylish you.

There is a saying that when you let go of the old you are making room for the new. Make room for new pieces that feel authentic, give you confidence, and make you stand taller. You can donate the clothes that are no longer serving you and say farewell to the memories. There is always someone out there who is going on an interview, starting a job, or looking for a job and your items will fit them perfectly. Instead of hanging and collecting dust those items could be giving someone else a fresh start. I know letting go of what’s not working for you can be hard but when you let go you are creating physical and mental space for something new. You’re literally and figuratively making room for new opportunities when you declutter your closet.

By clearing out the clutter, both in your wardrobe and in your life, you are opening the door to new possibilities and a new stylish you. Just as fashion evolves and changes over the years, so can your personal style. As you define and refine your style your wardrobe can make you stand out, help you be more productive, collaborative, memorable, and more.

When you let go of what’s not working for you, easily mix and match your new pieces to create endless outfits, you’ll be on your way to a new stylish you. Instead of starting your day with negative thoughts and self-doubt you can start your day with confidence. As we walk into the beginning of a new year make time in your day to let go of what’s not working for you so you can say hello to a new stylish you.
