When I work with clients one of the top questions I am asked is “can it be quick and easy to get dressed?”  My answer is always yes, it can be if you put together a capsule wardrobe collection.  A capsule wardrobe collection is 10, 13 or 15 pieces of clothing that you can mix and match and put together to make 50 + outfits.  It’s magical and can be life changing.

It may sound too good to be true but I am here to tell you that it’s possible.  The essentials for a capsule wardrobe collection may vary from person to person but the idea is a simple collection of clothes that coordinate with each other so you can mix and match almost endlessly into outfits that work for various occasions.

To create a capsule wardrobe, start with 10, 13, 15 or more pieces that work for you, your budget, and your lifestyle.  I usually suggest, 3 top, 3 bottoms, 3 layering pieces and a little black dress (or dress up outfit of some sort).  You can start with tops, blouses, or sweaters you love then add layering pieces like a blazer, a utility jacket, or cardigan. Lastly, pair them with bottoms (skirts, jeans, or pants) that will easily mix and match with the colors and patterns in the pieces you started with. You want to be sure the pieces are similar in color schemes or have one or two colors that pair easily with each other. Check out the pic above.

You can often create capsule wardrobes using what you have.  When the pieces in your closet fit the body you have now and you can mix and match pieces easily it can make it quicker and easier to get dressed.  After working with clients they find they have new outfits, using their own clothes, because I show them how to mix and match. They go from feeling overwhelmed and frustrated to transformed. Click here to download the capsule collection above with links.
