What are basics? I consider basics as pieces that you can mix and match with multiple pieces in your wardrobe. One of my favorites is a white button down shirt. I recently found one on sale at the GAP and I instantly added it to my cart. I wasn’t sure of the quality or texture but I figured I would give it a try (especially since it was on sale on sale)!!
Basics are essential to a capsule wardrobe which make it quicker and easier to get dressed. I usually have a basic white top in my rotation but I wasn’t having much luck finding a new one after I wore out the last one (until now).
It turns out the white button down top from the GAP was perfect! It fit well, is light weight but not see through and it is the perfect length for my 5ft. 4in body. In the end it turned out to be a great purchase and the top will now be in my weekly rotation. I can tuck it in, leave it out or tie the bottom in a knot.
Let me count the ways you can wear this basic yet versatile piece!! You can wear it with a pair of shorts, a skirt, jeans, layer it with a jacket, as part of a suit, wear it with a sweater over it or leave it open with a tank top/shell underneath.
